CLC trustees hire two new vice presidents
Dr. Richard J. Haney, currently interim vice president for educational affairs at CLC, was appointed the new vice president for educational affairs, and David Agazzi, currently vice president, administrative services, at Joliet Junior College, was appointed the new vice president for administrative affairs. The appointments conclude search processes that began in last spring.
“It’s a great privilege to be selected for this position, and I look forward to working with the faculty and staff of the college to continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities to the residents of Lake County,” Haney said.
“I’m honored that CLC’s board of trustees and president have selected me for this position,” Agazzi said. “The College of Lake County has a great reputation, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of creating its future.”
CLC President Dr. Jerry Weber praised Haney and Agazzi as “exceptional community college leaders,” in an e-mail message to college employees announcing the appointments. “I know their experience and insights will be a valuable resource for me, and the college as a whole, as we all move forward together to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead,” he said.
Dr. Richard Haney has served as interim vice president for educational affairs at CLC since 2007. Previous to that, he held positions at CLC as assistant vice president for workforce education from 2006-2007, assistant vice president for educational affairs from 2005-2006 and dean, business and industry services, from 1999-2005.
Before coming to CLC, Haney served as director, Center for Training Innovations, at Belleville Area College in Belleville, Ill., from 1996-1999 and as workforce training program manager and adjunct faculty member at Parkland College in Champaign, Ill, from 1990-1996. From 1989-1990, he held the position of instructor and student activities coordinator at the Regional Office of Education in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
Haney holds a Doctorate of Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Education in human resource education, also from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He also attended the Institute for the Management of Lifelong Education at Harvard University.
David Agazzi has served as vice president, administrative services, at Joliet Junior College since 2004. In that capacity, he has been responsible for an area with a $67 million budget and a staff of 289 full and part-time employees. His duties have included facility master planning, construction management and financial services, including bond financing and audit, budget, payroll, accounts receivable and payable functions.
Before coming to Joliet Junior College, Agazzi held positions as budget director, deputy budget director and deputy chief operating officer with the Chicago Public Schools from 1995-2004. His other positions have included serving as chief financial officer for the Chicago Housing Authority from 1999-2000, and director, Bureau of Financial Planning for the City of Portland from 1996-1997. Between 1988 and 1995, he also held positions as deputy budget director, assistant budget director and budget analyst for the City of Chicago, Office of Budget and Management. He holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Northern Illinois University.
