Requests for career and placement services double
Feeling the impact of the current economic downturn, job seekers are turning in greater numbers for help from the College of Lake County’s Career and Placement Services (CPS) office. Requests for assistance from the office have doubled in the past year, according to Sylvia M. Johnson, the center’s executive director.

New Degree Delivers Skilled Green Collar Job Prospects for Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (May 12, 2009) –
Energy independence and an educated workforce are critical to a prosperous future for Wisconsin. To respond, the University of Wisconsin-Extension is charging in with a bold new degree:  the nation’s first online Sustainable Management bachelor's degree.  For the first time, UW-Extension has brought together the strengths of four different University of Wisconsin campuses—UW-Parkside, UW-River Falls, UW-Stout and UW-Superior—to craft a degree completion program that equips workers with the management skills they will need to lead sustainable business initiatives.

CLC Paralegal Studies Program receives ABA approval
The Paralegal Studies Program at the College of Lake County has recently been approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), making it Lake County’s only ABA-approved paralegal program.

The program went through a rigorous self evaluation and reporting process composed of a two-day evaluation/assessment visit by three representatives of the ABA that included interviews with students, graduates, faculty and the legal community; a curriculum review; library and resource inspection; student and employer satisfaction surveys; in-depth tracking of graduate placement and a detailed self study.
