Explore careers at CLC Continuing Professional Development
Unsure of your next career move? Attend a free information session to learn about a new potential career. Each hour-long session provides insight into these fast-growing professions and explains the College of Lake County Continuing Professional Development courses that will help you get started.

Jan. 27: Improve operational processes at CLC breakfast workshop
A breakfast workshop on “Reducing Operational Uncertainty: Confronting Market Turbulence” will be presented by the Workforce and Professional Development Institute of the College of Lake County from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at the University Center of Lake County, located on CLC’s Grayslake campus, 1120 University Center Drive.

Seeking candidates for the ICCTA Distinguished Alumnus Award
The College of Lake County is seeking a distinguished alum to represent the College of Lake County for the Illinois Community College Trustees Association Distinguished Alumnus Award. The chosen alum would attend the June 1, 2012 ICCTA Awards Banquet as CLC's nominee.


A hands-on science and technology career exploration day for girls
Girls in seventh through 12th grade who want to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math are invited to the College of Lake County’s second annual STEM event (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) on Saturday, Feb. 25. This free, hands-on career exploration workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in the C Wing Conference Center at CLC, 19351 W. Washington Street, Grayslake.

Financial aid workshops to be offered throughout Lake County
College students and their parents can get help applying for college financial aid by attending a free FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Workshop, to be held at locations throughout Lake County from Jan. 14 to March 20.

2012 Members Exhibit Opens at CLC


A Members Exhibition, featuring a diverse collection of 101 art works by artist members of the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art, will open at the College of Lake County on Friday, Jan. 13 and run through Feb. 19. The exhibit will kick off with a reception for the artists on Jan. 13 from 7-9 p.m. in the gallery, located on CLC’s Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

CLC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP GALA RAISES $125K!
On Saturday, October 29, 2011, three hundred guests enjoyed a fun and entertaining evening at the Hotel InterContinental on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, raising over $125,000 for the College of Lake County Foundation Scholarship Fund.


CLC Board accepts three grants worth $2 million
The College of Lake County board of trustees accepted three grants totaling $2.09 million at its Nov. 15 meeting. The federal, state and local grants will be used to help establish two new certificate programs in science and technology, support staffing in the college’s Sustainability Center and provide healthcare career training for low-income youth and adults.

Learn about business careers at CLC information sessions
Information sessions on how to prepare for a variety of business careers will be offered by the College of Lake County in November, December and January. CLC faculty will present information on educational requirements (associate degrees and certificates), salaries and projected demand for occupations in administrative office systems, computer information technology, hospitality and culinary management and paralegal studies.

Feb. 9: Academic Achievement Reception at CLC
High achieving high school students and their parents are invited to the College of Lake County on Thursday, Feb. 9 for an Academic Achievement Reception from 7–8 p.m.

2011: A year of green accomplishments for the College of Lake County

GRAYSLAKE --  Though green is one of the colors of the holiday season, in 2011, the College of Lake County has been going green all year round. Continuing its efforts to promote green practices on campus and in the community, CLC accomplished the following in 2011:


CLC Board of Trustees Dec. 13 Meeting

 

As the College of Lake County’s facilities master planning process nears completion, the college will conduct a series of community meetings to finalize the scope of a planned expansion of CLC’s Lakeshore Campus in Waukegan. CLC trustees and President Dr. Jerry Weber discussed the process to be used to obtain community feedback at last night’s regularly scheduled monthly board meeting.

CLC President Jerry Weber said that college staff will be meeting with elected officials and business, civic, education and faith-based groups in January and February. He said a report on feedback from the groups will be prepared for the board, and the trustees will meet with leaders of several of the groups in March or April.
